Why do we use external stylesheets instead of inline or embedded styles?

We use external style sheets because they make the HTML code easier to read, and discern from the style code. We can keep our code neat and organized, while also making it easeir to pinpoint a certain style in which we may want to edit by having an external sheet with the different styles laid out.
